U.S President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping reached agreements on several high-stakes issues at their highly anticipated meeting in South Korea on Thursday.
On Wednesday 22nd October, Labour MP for Newport West and Islwyn Ruth Jones, joined Chair of the 1987 Committee Fatima Kamara, for an ‘In Conversation’ webinar hosted by Chamber UK and Politics UK. Their discussion spanned Welsh and national affairs, health, the environment, immigration and economic growth, and Jones provided a refreshingly honest, open and personalised perspective on current affairs.
At a Birmingham-based summit on regional investment, Chancellor Rachel Reeves announced her plans to abolish ‘needless form filling’ in order to accelerate economy growth. She described the plan’s focus on ‘simpler corporate rules’ – rules which will ease the burden on small businesses to register and submit data to Companies House. Tim Flagg, CEO of UKAI, expressed his support for the agenda, as he believes deregulation of AI will streamline and enhance its growth and development potential, without needless bureaucracy hampering the progress of innovators.

Former Chancellor of the Exchequer Sir Jeremy Hunt recently sat down with UKAI CEO Tim Flagg to discuss his new book ‘Can We Be Great Again?: Why a Dangerous World Needs Britain’. Their conversation also covered themes such as political pessimism, technology and Great Britain’s status as a global superpower. Hunt emphasised his belief in the fact that national greatness lies in the ability to adapt, innovate, and lead.

During their panel discussion, the speakers explored Liverpool’s role in driving regional and national economic growth, and its symbiotic relationship with AI and technology.
