We are a fast-growing, student-led political media organisation dedicated to delivering accurate, engaging, and impartial coverage of UK and global politics. With 500,000 followers and readers around the globe, our mission is to empower young people to understand and engage with the political landscape through credible journalism, analysis, and commentary.
As we expand our original content output, we are seeking a politically engaged and editorially experienced Original Content Editor to lead our editorial team and shape the direction of our reporting.
The Role
The Original Content Editor will oversee our editorial operations and manage a dynamic team of writers, deputy and assistant editors. You will take responsibility for content planning, story commissioning, and maintaining high editorial standards across all published material. This is an opportunity to lead and develop a national student newsroom while gaining hands-on experience in political journalism and media management.

We are looking for a politically engaged editor with strong judgment, leadership and attention to detail who can run a distributed team and keep standards high.
Essential
- Proven editorial or journalistic experience
- Strong knowledge of UK politics and institutions
- Excellent written English and editing ability
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Organised, proactive, and dependable
Desirable
- Experience managing a team or publication
- Awareness of international political issues
- Familiarity with SEO and analytics tools
- Experience using WordPress
- Connections or experience in political journalism
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Original Content team including Deputy Editors, Assistant Editors and Writers
- Oversee editorial planning and ensure consistent, high quality political reporting
- Edit and approve articles across policy, elections and international developments
- Publish and format content using WordPress ensuring accessibility and copyright compliance
- Liaise with MPs, press offices and contributors to coordinate opinion pieces and interviews
- Uphold editorial integrity and ensure impartial, evidence based reporting
- Monitor website performance and support social media promotion with Social Media Leads
