Before submitting your application, please take the following into consideration:
- Some experience in editing, either on TikTok or a similar short-form platform, is required.
- CapCut Pro will be provided.
- You must be actively engaged in political news online.
- The role does not require an interview.
- You have the option to submit examples of your worK.

What you’ll be doing
- Work with fellow editors to choose which stories to cover, using embargoed Government and party/sector releases to create high-quality videos – from voiceover explainers to quick news flashes.
- Make sure all videos uploaded on the Politics UK X channel are promptly uploaded to TikTok with format and tone consistent.

Run by students, for students – we’ve grown from 30k followers on X in February 2023 to over 360k today by cutting through the noise and delivering politics in a way young people actually want to read it. We do this by breaking news before any major outlet while keeping it engaging across X, TikTok, and Instagram.
As part of our editorial team on TikTok, you’ll gain valuable experience in digital publishing, political reporting, and creating engaging short-form content. Even if you have no formal background in journalism, you’ll get the opportunity to learn and build a portfolio that can help you in future roles or applications.
